The medical device industry is the biggest beneficiary of the new healthcare reform policy. At the Summit Forum on Scientific Development of China's Medical Device Industry held on November 28th, the attending experts were full of confidence in the future development of the medical device industry, and believed that at that time, more research and development investment should be increased, independent innovation ability should be improved, and efforts should be made to improve product quality and strengthen after-sales service.

Since the 1990s, China's medical device industry has continued to develop rapidly. Especially in recent years, due to the country's strict supervision of the quality of medical device products, strict regulation of the medical device market order, and strong support for innovation in medical device technology, the development speed of China's medical device industry has been further accelerated, and the quality level of products has been continuously improved. Jiang Feng, the president of the China Medical Device Professional Association, introduced at the meeting that according to the association's budget, the total output value of the entire industry reached 220 billion yuan in 2008, a year-on-year increase of 15%; Industrial sales reached 210 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15%; A profit of over 20 billion yuan was achieved, a year-on-year increase of 14%.

Together, we should also recognize that China's medical device industry started relatively late and has a weak foundation. The current situation of small, numerous, scattered, and low-level competition among medical device companies has not fundamentally changed. Jiang Zhenghua, Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress, pointed out that the primary problem currently facing the equipment industry is the large number of companies, small planning, weak skills and brands, and the inability to innovate independently. Accelerating the commercialization process of the medical device industry, implementing the survival of the fittest among medical device companies and products, and strengthening the standardized construction of medical devices are the fundamental directions for the continued development of the medical device industry.

Data shows that by the end of 2008, there were 13,141 medical machinery production companies in China, with non-public ownership accounting for over 99%. Out of these 13,141 companies, only about 120 have a production volume exceeding 100 million yuan, with over half of them being foreign-funded or joint venture companies. The company has small planning and low concentration; Lack of research and development investment, with few high-end products; The lack of innovation ability and the absence of a comprehensive industry-university-research system are urgent issues that need to be addressed in the current equipment industry.

Medical reform has brought unprecedented opportunities for the development of the medical device industry. Jiang Feng analyzed that healthcare reform has led to the rapid expansion of the medical service market. At the same time, the government has increased the proportion of medical expenses, which has further promoted the development of medical equipment. In addition, the rise of ethnic industries, the promotion of innovative policies, and new regulatory measures are all conducive to the development of the equipment industry. He believed that under the influence of the new healthcare reform policy, innovative large equipment and two network construction equipment products would benefit the most.
